Most universities run distance learning programs and a couple of years
ago I completed my dip ed through the Monash while at home having babies.
In this case we had accessed to Monash Portal online which enabled online
chat with other students enrolled in the subject and also teacher.

A possible suggestion would be to setup a gmail account as this offers
facility to email larger files than the catholic system and online chat
with other registered students wihin a group.
