[Design and Technology] SAT How product would be manufactured in Industry

Hi everyone

Can I ask has anyone found a good way to advise the students about how to present the concept of how their product would be manufactured in industry? I have fashion/textiles students.

Thank you

Jo Roszkowski

Hi Gabriella, Dean, Mike and other VCE Product Design and Technology teachers

There are a number of discrepancies within the study design and between the study design and the assessment criteria. I and a few others have brought these discrepancies to the attention of the VCAA. Teachers can easily change the published VCAA SAC criteria because they are not mandated (but the criteria used should be consistent with the study design). However, the more significant problem lies with the discrepancies between the study design and the SAT criteria and descriptors which are mandated. The VCAA have stated that they are 'monitoring' the study, and it seems unlikely that any amendments will be made to the study or the assessment criteria/grade descriptors this year. So, as Mike said, it is really important that as many teachers as possible let the VCAA know about the problems.

Also, while I'm here, just thought I'd mention that the sample examination has been posted on the VCE Product Design and Technology page of the VCAA website. I have started to write some answers to the exam questions. I'm sure there may be some further discussion to be had on this list about the sample exam, once teachers have had a chance to look at it.

Regards,
Lorraine Tran.

Yes – should be Product Development Process. We need to let VCAA know so that it can be amended. The proofing of a number of areas could have been a bit more thorough.

Subject: [Design and Technology] Unit 3 Out 2 SAC query

Hi all,
Unit 3 Out 2 SAC query.

has anyone else noticed a discrepancy between the Key Knowledge skills list in the study design and the VCCA performance descriptor rubric? the key knowledge and skills talks about the product development process but the rubric says product design process. they are very similar but not the same. if asked to do a graphic representation of them, they would be different. is it just me missing something? Am I wrong to consider that the rubric has a mistake and it should read development.

regards

gabriella
