Hi Paul,

I have done lamps with my students using components purchased through designability.com - they have the inline switch and plug already wired. All you need to do is then wire the lamp fitting to the end of the lead.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

We used to run a Low Voltage Lighting class at Yr 10. We used to buy 240V - 12V transformers from Middy's. They didn't have a switch. You switched them on at power point. Middy's staff advised us on how to make them safe for school use.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Jo Jepsen

Subject: [Design and Technology] Lamp project

Hi all,

Has anyone undertaken a lamp project in middle-senior years recently?

I am considering doing one that is relatively cheap (no low-voltage) and doesn't require me to do any 240V wiring. I can't seem to locate anyone who can supply me the plug-switch-socket in one piece. I don't want to have to go to an electrician to check them all - or do I have no choice?

If anyone out there has experience, supplier contacts, design briefs, etc.. and would like to share I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,
