Not sure if you are familiar with this site, just one of the tools out there for people to test their web pages on (providing it is uploaded to a web site of course).

The web site generates images on what your web page will look like in a variety of browsers:
Epiphany 1.4.8, Firefox 1.0.4, Galeon 1.3.20, Konqueror 3.3, Mozilla 1.7.8, MSIE 6.0, Opera 8.50, Safari 2.0
 
Testing opportunities everywhere!
 
Even though the activity is completely unworkable in a standard class, your kids might be able to access the site from home and the range of Browsers is certainly a discussion starter!
