Kind of why it is worth going for a unit that is as cheap as you can.
Despite what computer vendors say or imply, netbooks are not mini-laptops .
They will depreciate fast in 3 years so we may expect a local cottage
industry to repair etc. My guess is we can expect even another revolution
about to wipe out the netbooks but i'll reserve my forecast for the VITTA
journal :-) Slightly off topic .. but did you know that a child can repair
an OLPC netbook with one screwdriver? Check this video out that Joel Stanley
published on YouTube
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pus_fA1Tv9w

World deployment map (

And Australia (missing some points :-(

http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&t=h&msa=0&ll=-23.443089,134.472656&spn=28.82194,57.084961&z=5&msid=104569102456467337022.000459a5ebdf2f82145fb

I am working through an outline of a very different preconference workshop
for ACEC2010 http://www.acec2010.info next year based on these but have to
talk over the details with some friends first. :-)

Regards Roland
