Hi Kevork
We taken a different tack and use Picaxe processors for a robotic arm unit in our yr 10 systems area. They use free software from Revolution Education for programming the chip and there is a free flowchart based programming s/w for the beginners. The kids design their robotic arm in Prodesktop and then use an CNC mill to cut the components. I'm not the expert, but can put you in touch with Neville, our systems teacher if you want more information.
