The iOS dictation with Siri is incredibly powerful straight out of the box.

I use it extensively for blog posts and communication while on the go.

I'm also addicted to the app Rev, which is an audio transcription app at $1 per minute. Simply dictate into the app and a human writes it up at 100% accuracy. I wrote an entire book this way

We have used the free DragonDictate app or even Siri, with any voice in my class, as I am doing right now to illustrate. Should be quite easily adapted by your student.

No training needed. It works better when you use an iPhone or iPad with a headset. Carefully annunciate each word. Keep sentences short and read out the included punctuation. Any howlers or odd expressions can be easily corrected later. It is free to download and it is similar to the dictation software built into every Mac computer. I'm surprised that more people don't use this.

I had some fun writing reports this way but it doesn't help when you've got nothing to say.

Dragon is the only one that is any good IMO.
I have used it successfully for years - version 12.5 is excellent but you have to speak like a newsreader or something to get it to nearly 100%.
It takes an hour or more to train it to get it started.

Try Dragon? Very little hand use. Once voice trained it does the the lot! There is a trial version.

Hello all
Further to my email about Voice Recognition software, would anyone know of anything that could suit a student who has issues with hand writing due to a medical condition. Thought more brains are better than one to work out what we can have as an option.

Thanks in anticipation
Sylvia

Hi all
Hope you had a great break. Just would like some recommendation for voice recognition software. We have a student that stutters slightly but cannot due to disability hand write. So thought using a voice recognition software may assist him. we are looking at Dragon software but if you have any other suggestions would appreciate

Thanks
Sylvia
