[Yr11 Information Technology] VCE IT implementation workshops

I remember that when the last Study Design was introduced there was a session in Mildura. Attendance was not huge but surely it is much more cost effective as well as far more equitable to send one presenter here rather than expect teachers in Mildura to travel a minimum of 3 1/2 hrs (each way) to attend a session (which is not the one in our region).

I would expect that the body implementing a new Study Design should be responsible for familiarising all staff, not just the ones who are geographically convenient.

Hi Zach and colleagues

Yes, Geelong is a long way from Warrnambool, but the Western Metro Region session is being held at Galvin Park S C in Werribee. I hope this solution suits you and your colleagues in the Geelong area. The Galvin Park session is being held on Tuesday 1 June.

It's always tricky selecting a location for regions that are geographically large and it is acknowledged that attendance will be more difficult for some teachers than others. The location decisions for the workshops have been informed by the concentration patterns of schools offering VCE IT.

Hi Paula,

I'm not sure if there is a session in Geelong however it would seem teachers from this way would have to travel to either Warrnambool or Melbourne if I've read the attached information correctly.

Please let me know if this is the case.

kind regards,
Zach Alexakos

Dear colleagues

>From the end of May, over a two-week period, a series of workshops will be held throughout Victoria focusing on the VCE IT study design to be introduced next year. VCAA and VITTA are working together to deliver these workshops. If you haven't registered for one of these workshops, please do so at: http://www.vitta.org.au/events/category/training-events#VCE (alternatively enter via the VCE IT New Study Roadshow link on the VITTA website) A workshop is being held in every region - scroll down until you reach your region.

Attending a workshop will give you the opportunity to hear about key changes to the study design, including details about the new Problem-solving methodology and to network with colleagues.

Regards
Paula
