Hi All,

I am currently teaching VET 1/2 and VET 3/4 IT (software) and have
decided to set up a dummy company with my 1/2 class.

We have been working on a logo and company name. Soon we will create
some offical letterheads and documentation.

We have placed a notice in the school newsletter to indicate that we
have set up a discussion list on the Intranet (assessible from home)
that allows parents and students to list technical problems they are
having with hardware and software. It will be one of the companies roles
to act as a help desk and answer problems that may be listed.

We are also asking for donations of old computers so that we can rebuild
them (if they are not working) and give them out to the disadvantaged in
the community. The difficulty is licencing as far as MS goes? Does
anyone know of a way around this? We can install Linux on the machines
and their office equivalent.

Is anyone else creating a dummy company with their students or is
everyone and I am just slow off the mark? Can anyone provide any further
ideas or suggestions?

Cheers,

John Edwards
