[Technical] offtopic: burning netbook hardware decisions

re: BYOT-  Like Ultranet, Ten years too late, but possibly better late than never.
It’ll probably be another ten years before the Department accepts the use of iPads in schools and by then everyone else will be using 3D Glasses and holograms.

The department wants netbooks and from what I saw in my travels to different schools, it was a mess- and we are talking PC netbooks here- Oh the irony!

News here is that our iPad submission to the department was knocked back- something to do with some bureaucrat with a one eyed view of PCs.

The Acer is slightly better spec'd, 4 year warranty, slightly lighter, cheaper screen replacement cost ($160 vs $450) and our techs strongly favour the Levono as it seems to have more solid looking parts, screws etc. I know this is off topic but I am a bit concerned about the backup, support for both and would like some anecdotal feedback and honest thoughts (either on or off list) that I can pass on from anybody that is already using either model in a 1:1 program.
