Is anybody prepared to say that their solution is the only or the right one? We shouldn't let the familiar drive the obvious and accept that there are many many right outcomes to these similar problems. For many of us, the reason we do the things we do is probably historical, cultural and personal.  

We could all speak English, use the one telephone provider, share the same belief, drive the same car and use mice with just one button. (don't take the bait .. I am only teasing) Of course, the real world is a more interesting place to live in. ;-)

I agree, Roland ... from an IT good management perspective, supporting more than one platform on a network could be seen simply as a recipe for trouble, but it can also be said that it offers a greater choice of products for both the administrators and users ...
