Hi Neil,

One of my SD students enjoys the eclipse environment. He is often experimenting with various code snippets in it.

I too am one of those now using the AppInventor...its got lots of YouTube resources, plus a few forums/websites are available on it. Using it with my 9's and they love it(just quietly, I'm enjoying it too!).

In 2013, my aim is to hopefully indulge in "Python" and will look further into that over the next few months sourcing resources...I'm told there are lots!

Currently using VB.NET for my SD class.

We had VB6 and I moved to the VB.NET version.

I am detecting that among my students a small undercurrent of 'closet' programmers who are now starting to rise to the surface given that I have "encouraged" that option at 'middle school ' level now....

All these languages are making me giddy! :=)

its hard yakka but its fun trying!!!!

Kent.

Subject: [Year 12 SofDev] Java course resources

As it’s time to move on from VB6 I am introducing a Java course from Year 10 feeding through to Sof Dev at Yr 12.

The goal of this is to bolt on an Android SDK and program for portable devices.

Maybe ambitious, but I want to have a go.

There is not much Java speak on the list, but does anyone have resources (print or online) to recommend for class use in this endeavour with NetBeans and Android. (I may use Eclipse at Yr 12).

Regards
Neil Wallace
