Sounds like the problem is with the separation between the different settings.  This is what I have to connect to an MS AD system.
 
ou=students,dc=stpeters,dc=local; ou=AllStaff,dc=stpeters,dc=local; ou=Administrators,dc=stpeters,dc=local

	Hi Everyone,

	Moodle newb here :-)

	Have installed Moodle 1.9.5 and all is fine, except for AD auth.

	If I specify cn=Users,dc=stgs,dc=local at User lookup settings, Contexts any user in that container can login fine to moodle.

	If I specify any other ou, eg ou=testou,dc=stgs,dc=local then logon fails for users in that ou.

	Any clues as to how to get this working? Obviously the bind settings dn and password are fine otherwise AD auth wouldn't work at all.

	I must be missing something. Obviously I've searched Moodle docs, etc.

	Any help much appreciated.
