Hi Ken

Thanks for the update. I do confess the site was introduced by a corporate friend so it is consistent with your evaluation.

My friend often uses it to try to settle arguments about Hyper-V vs VMWare J.

So the top 10 technology trends for 2014 are :

o Mobile Device Diversity and Management

o Mobile Apps and Applications

o The Internet of Everything

o Hybrid Cloud and IT as Service Broker

o Cloud/Client

o The Era of Personal Cloud

o Software-Defined Anything

o Web-Scale IT

o Smart Machines

o 3D Printing

Fascinating …

Thanks Kevork,

Gartner Group are also a reasonable source of more general technology trend/prediction information. eg https://www.gartner.com/doc/2667526/top--strategic-technology-trends

However they do tend to be very corporate-focussed, and probably now there are more relevant sources of trends. Oh yes, Gartner sell their data - but conveniently they are quoted a lot by others...

Hi Folks

Sorry for repeats of this message.

I have been browsing the Horizon Report ( final report to be published in June 2014 ) specially with the new Study Design

http://k12.wiki.nmc.org/

http://cdn.nmc.org/media/2014-horizon-k12-final-topics.pdf

Some interesting reading specially looking out the 1, 2 and 5 year windows.

III. Important Developments in K-12 Educational Technology

Time-to-Adoption Horizon: One Year or Less

• BYOD

• Cloud Computing

Time-to-Adoption Horizon: Two to Three Years

• Games and Gamification

• Learning Analytics

Time-to-Adoption Horizon: Four to Five Years

• The Internet of Things

• Wearable Technology

Another great source of high powered technology trends is Gartner’s Magic Quadrant. If you wish to compare technologies eg. Microsoft Hyper-V vs VMware vs Parallels vs Citrix

See http://virtualization.info/en/news/2013/07/gartner-releases-its-2013-magic-quadrant-for-x86-server-virtualization-infrastructure.html

Interested in secure email gateway options and not sure to go with Barracuda, Symantec , Mcafee etc see

Enjoy

Kindest Regards
