Rosebud SC

1500 students

The whole school( minus the 2010 Year 7) enters Jumpstart on the 23rd NOv.

We have been doing this for a few years and the feedback is generally positive.
While the long break does interrupt the flow somewhat, in Year 12 the die is cast early, expectations are established and things are humming from the beginning.
There is a buzz in the air for the first week that does decline somewhat.
We have real difficulty with negotiating PD days off for all the big conferences and ensuring that the timetable is established. However this is made easier thanks to RAM, our blocking and timetabling package. While staffing is an issue so early before New Year, 90% of the staff fronting the students are the ones who will be teaching them in 2010.

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] 2010 VCE Jumpstart programs

Just a quick informal survey to see ....

a) which schools have a "jumpstart" program for their 2010 VCE IT classes?
b) whether you feel that they are useful, ie. do the kids start the year
having done the work?
c) what are the strengths of your particular program?
d) what are the weaknesses of your program?
e) any other comments?

thanks!
