Metalwork went a few years ago, woodwook just closed shop today along with Vet Hospitality. IT is the last technology subject running for senior students .. I guess cause I am digging in. Sad to see the closure of the trade-technology subjects in the junior school.

Nice to have another in the same boat mate.
Since posting that item, I have had a squizz at the 'current' study design and am feeling pretty comfortable with majority of the content - to teach.
But, I wouldnt mind a bit of a 'hand up' in terms of creating a program for a 'portable device' - OC2 Unit 3 - in terms of some samples so I kinda know just what is a typically produced solution. I am quite comfortable now with VBasic and not too bad with 'C' as languages, plus have used a few others in my time (being an official 'old fart')...so I reckon I can surely adapt.
Essentially, just lookin to ensure I have reasonably current materials with lots of samples to teach the kids and to learn from for myself. And yep, you can bet I will look for whatever I can find that's online too!

Haven't had any feedback or takers on my query yet....but its still early.

Here's a twist...just got my load for next year...turns out I have the Vet Cert III program 2 units in the same class as my ITApps class. Now that'll be interesting! Hmmmmm. Total of 6 (3 of each) students. All boys, but all keen.

	Cheers Warrick.

	Kent.

	Hi folks,
I am having a stealth approach to commence Software Development here at St.Brigids in 2011 to replace the IT Apps subject AND to boost numbers again (and interest) at the VCE level for our subject.
At this stage my small desire is if any of you current SD teachers who have course planning materials with some work samples for each outcome that you may wish to share to enable my to putting together of a proposal to the curriculum committee here early next year(I am on that committee presently).

	I would like please:
	A sample course/unit planner/outline
A sample task for unit 3, and a sample from unit 4 with if possible sample solution.
Some ideas on how implementing of the SD subject is of benefit to other subjects and finally,
How important the link is from SD to university entrance...
Sources of reference materials would also be of use..
What type of PD is recommended to get me 'up to speed' with the current programming languages?

Yes, I know and appreciate fully, that it is a decent amount I am seeking but my wish is to make a strong argument for its commencement/inclusion in our course offerings up here. IT Apps is sadly, declining, so perhaps this is a viable offering to freshen up interest of students.

I am implementing the Cert III for the first time next year here too with a small cohort extending from the Cert II this year.

Jeez, it feels like I'm starting out like a graduate again!!! So much work! Ah, the thingz we do to keep the enthusiasm up!

If anyone else has gone through this process and has any of the above docs already created, please gimme a buzz, any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED BY THIS LITTLE BLACK DUCK!!

And yes, I am aware of the SD edulist as a resource.

It is a big ask, but as ya all know...ya dont ask...ya dont get!!

	Thanks folks..

	Kent.

From the latest VCAA bulletin which I got TODAY. (It arrived in the
college about 3rd or 4th of December.)

"Throughout November 2009 the VCAA will conduct an online examination
	feedback survey..."

	It's already closed. Visit www.asr5.com/vcaa

I can only hope they open it up again. I've got a boot or two to put in...

	Grrr.
