Hi

Usually the big red crosses arise because the file that the thumlbnail on
the storyboard is pointing to has been moved or renamed or is no longer
accessible for some other reason.

WinMovieMaker recognises most movie types that the operating system does (im
assuming XP or vista) so there schouldnt be a prob there
