[Year 12 IT Apps] Using Wikis..for a newbie!

I also love using wikis. Currently I am building wikis for all my classes although I tend to use blogs 
more consistently. My year 12 students worked on the flathorizonproject wiki as a virtual team, 
becoming the sounding board for the wikis (or webpages) that global students had set up in a golbal 
competition. This gave practical application to the theory of working in virtual teams.
Our students have worked on many different global projects, sharing wikis with other schools. Their use 
as a collaborative  and interactive tool is powerful. While USA sleeps our students work on it, and in the 
morning the US schools have updated so even though we  have different time zones students can 
interact in real time.
I have used wikispaces more than wetpaint but both have facilities for educators and for school groups. 
They are reasonably user friendly and can be great for a bank of resources or virtual team work.
