Without having studied the matter in detail, my feeling is that James is
right, and that it does not have to run "on" the PDA or phone, but be
suitable for it.

Some other thoughts or suggestions ... Thinking on my feet:

- presumably there are implementations of PHP or Java which will run
(directly) on PalmOS?
- code for eyeOS (http://www.eyeos.info/) looks pretty much like it's
PHP in a wrapper, so might be worth messing around with

Does the app have to reside on the portable device, or just be
accessible and usable on the portable device. I use my pda on the
wireless lan at school to access php apps all the time. Is this a
possible use? One could argue that if the php pages are designed for a
pda (or phone) screen that it is being implemented on a portable device,
even though the scripting is processed at the server level. Any thoughts
on this?

I'd like to know what teachers who currently use PHP in Information
Systems plan to do for u3o2 and u4o1 in 2007 in Software Development.
[After today's VITTA sessions this is a good time to talk about this]

The u3o2 requirement "to produce a software module suitable for
implementation on a portable computing device"  seems not appropriate
for PHP.  But if you choose to use PHP for u4o1, how would you link the
preceding task?
The intention of the study design would seem to encourage , for example,
a client/server relationship. But my first two thoughts for the client
side - ActionScript and Javascript - are not on the approved list.

Any thoughts from PHP enthusiasts?
