It is important to note that the Copyright Council represents the
interests of copyright holders and owners, it does not represent the
interests of copyright users, students and researchers.

Copyright Law is not black and white.

Current legislation before parliament will REDUCE exceptions for study
and research currently permitted under Fair dealing provisions.

Copyright infringement is not criminally illegal. It is not a crime.

Yet.

Kimberlee Weatherall is a prominent academic in Intellectual Property
Law and she has stated publicly that some of the information provided by
the Copyright Council regarding infringement is misleading.

Her blog on the new legislation is brilliant.

And her submission to the current inquiry goes to the heart of some of
these issues
