[Year 12 IPM] Good PC vendors

Sorry if this sounds too much like an ad but this is an honest
response....We get most of our stuff from Learning With Technologies (
www.LWT.com.au ) which have mainly Acer stuff and they are quite cheap. They
sell mostly to schools. It's run by a bloke called Paul Doherty who used to
be with the Department of Education and helped set up a bunch of IT programs
and they seem to know what is going on in terms of ICT in education. We
have found them great to deal with even though we are quite a long way away.
We find the Acer warranties very good and they let you open up the box
yourself if there is a simple fix that you don't want to bother having to
wait for a technician to come out and fix.
That became an issue from us when we bought a bunch of computers that had to
be taken back because they wouldn't let us loosen the screws on the floppy
drives that they tightened up too much, so we loaded up the computers into
the school car and took them to Melbourne when we had a PD day. On the
bolte bridge there was an accident ahead of us. We stopped. The car behind
us didn't. I wish I had a camera to capture the look on her face when we
opened up our boot to reveal $15,000 worth of computers. Interestingly she
did have a camera in her glove box to record the damage, which begged the
question how often did she have car accidents, but that is getting a little
off track.

I know it's not IPM related but can anyone out there recommend a PC
vendor for schools?
So far I've investigated HP, DELL and Acer. We are looking to get 100
basic units and about 14 multimedia/graphics units. Based on value for
money I'm currently leaning towards DELL (we're not getting laptops ;)
or HP.

In fact the best example of detailed information is the supermarket
invoice / docket which details everything (item by item) that was bought
in one transaction.
