[elearning] Untranet Platform. (Off topic a little}

Agreed, the Oyster card worked well for me with a few exceptions for family members. The biggest difference I noted was the time the Myki takes to "register"; there is a real lag. The Oyster was virtually "instant".

The Metro in Paris has a similar card, but requires photo ID, if a visitor can be bothered.

Loved the technology!

>From what I have read, the technical problem with the MyKi is not software based but more to do with canyoning as the units on trams and busses struggle to get a good signal. It does make me wonder why they don't just cache all the requests in the box and just upload and reconcile later as the train, tram or bus rattles back into range. If somebody gets a free ride and a small temp debit, they would have to clear it anyway to use the card the following day or as with mine, gets automatically topped up overnight.

I loved using the Oyster card in the UK and believe that this is the way to go. My guess is that there are going to be tweaks and adjustments as we work this all out and move onto more pressing problems. My son has a card and doesn't have to keep begging me for spare change to get to and from school. Priceless.

Regards Roland

PS: I also believe that anybody who cannot legally drive a car should be able to access free public transport

Anyone know what the platform the Ultranet is built on? It has been suggested to me that it is MS SharePoint, but pretty sure that's not correct.

Any ideas?
