There was an interesting take on sustainablility & designer/ end user relationships on ABC television last night.

1. Kevin McClouds 'Man-Made' home   &  2. Dream Build:


A playful contrast here between McClouds' low tech, 'man-shack' experiments in sourcing materials, and processing them for an off-grid country retreat, followed by a very slick & mod Australian family home, designed for Shane & Caroline; architect & masseuse, for Dream Build. 


McCloud’s new series (this is the1st of 4?) seems to take a 'Mythbusters' approach to recycling & sustainability, using old & new approaches to incorporate available & waste materials (from both rural and urban sources).  

The Dream Build episode shown displays a 'public gallery' like (very monumental from the outside)  twist of angled, connecting cubes. Very showy, and surprisingly functional to the families needs on the inside. Both worth seeing if it's on I-View. Excepts from both are great for product design & tech wood/ metal.
