Subject: Introducing Big Green Idea grants

Good morning,

<<Big Green Idea - one page.pdf>>

I'm writing to tell you about Big Green Idea, a British Council and LRQA (Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance) seed funding initiative designed to attract, encourage and assist Australia's brightest entrepreneurs to develop innovative new sustainability projects.

It's a unique funding programme in its second year that we thought may be appropriate for your networks.

Big Green Idea will award funding to new projects that equip people to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change in cities, and/or promote sustainable living and commercial practices. We're looking for people with savvy, creative ideas that will help address some of the biggest sustainability challenges for urban communities while making a positive impact on the way we live or work.

Applicants can request either a $10,000 or $20,000 cash grant to support projects in areas including travel, energy, water, commercially applicable projects for industry, sustainable design, initiatives for creative industries, positive communications campaigns, and the effect of climate change on socially disadvantaged communities.

Successful applicants will also benefit from project mentoring by business and sustainability leaders from LRQA and/or its partners and the British Council to help projects engage the widest audience and have the greatest possible positive effect on their communities.

Applications are now open and will close on Monday 9 May, 2011. Applications can be made online at www.biggreenidea.com.au<http://www.biggreenidea.com.au>, which also contains further information about the scheme and its terms and conditions.

If appropriate, we'd be very grateful if you can pass this message on to your networks.

For more information you can get in touch with us at amrit.gill at britishcouncil.org.au<mailto:amrit.gill at britishcouncil.org.au> or call (02) 9326 2022.
