[Informatics] SAT data

Hi Michael
I encouraged my students to use the structure for the report of the DLTV sample – it is detailed in this regard, but then add the information they have already done in each of the areas.

In terms of the analysis, against the criteria there would be some issues with a lack of secondary data and nothing qualitative so therefore can’t get full marks. The analysis itself is simplistic but correct. Simplistic because it covered “a impacts b” but didn’t cover “why”.

There was a brief discussion of this in the causation v correlation section of the site, but I would have wanted to see one of these areas investigated with some qualitative data in order to warrant a very high. There would be a breakdown of time spent on a range of different alternative activities (e.g. time spend on homework / gaming / sports / work) and you would apply this area across the data that you have for sleep times for each year level and deepen your analysis.

The Gantt chart of 10 lessons is clearly unrealistic, does not include references to the PSM. But let’s be honest the U3O2 work for this document was probably completed before the criteria were finalised.

I said to my students this example (projected onto the screen, not given out to students) would warrant probably a B maybe a C when graded.

Lucas

Subject: [Informatics] SAT data

Hi SAT folk,
I’m trying to get my head around how much primary data is required to score high, and how students are allowed to use secondary data in their SAT. The DLTV sample solution (Sleepy Heads) is quite light on when it comes to data and it would all seem to be primary. Am I the only one feeling like this?

Cheers,
Michael
