OK this one may sound silly, but last year I visited a school that 3D
printed rocks.

Well, to be more precise they used 3D printer files of stone tools from
some museum in the US to print exact copies of these quite rare and
culturally significant stone tools

These tools were from some stone-age civilisation and the History class
basically had kids hold them and orient them in their hand until
"oh...look.. this one fits my hand and makes a flat surface that you could
mash wheat with" or "hey, this one fits into my hand and provides a sharp
point for cutting meat" etc

The irony of using C21 technology to print prehistoric technology was not
lost on most students.
