Although I haven't done this, I gather in essence its just :

... download a CD image, and then boot the CD .....experiment from there
(it is all designed for kids)

Sounds like there are more complex details to make this work at present
- since its sort of beta or alpha ...but in the end, hopefully it will
be that easy for us windows users to use the Sugar software off the OLPC
(other alternative is to install onto Linux) .... so Bill is trialling
the windows approaches for us ...

I like how his wiki approach has emerged as a class activity as they
work it out together ...

Good on ya Bill! Now I feel really inferior again. Wish I knew how to
do that with software....

Ah, well, will just have go back to being an 'ordinary' genius again I
guess.

Subject: [Yr7-10it] Sugar (OLPC activities)

The one laptop per child (OLPC) or xo software is called Sugar. Sugar is
both a new operating system (OS) and a variety of educational activities
(applications). Earlier this year there was some turmoil within the OLPC
project which led to Walter Bender leaving and setting up Sugar Labs. It
is open source educational activities which work in a collaborative
framework and are currently being ported to a variety of other
platforms.

I've worked out how to run Sugar on Windows computers, by booting off
USB keys. This means that the software can be tested and evaluated in
the industrialised world even though the xo's are hard to obtain, being
earmarked for the developing world.

Students in a year 10 class at my school are currently evaluating Sugar
activities. Details can be found here:
