Hi Jenna,
I've never done PD on GM but its pretty intuitive. Try the web site gamemaker.nl for some tutes and tips. I usually feed off my top kiddies for 'how to's '. We seem to be doin just fine with where we're at presently. When my pupils ask me a question on how to..., we work it through like any programming problem by keeping the language simple and using key statements such as..
"When sprite A hits(COLLIDES) with sprite B, then something(EVENT) happens ".
My kids are now used to breaking their questions into this thinking, or similar, and finding their own solutions and building their thinking and creativity skills..

Also, the pinball machines we made looked 'creative', and the snooker games being done now are looking good..heck, some even look Real!

Sure, the difference from the best to the weakest is large but hey, thats life in the classroom! Another of the challenges of rural/regional teachers to overcome..

This program is more fun for me than scratch now, the students I presently have are getting bored with scratch(my 8's) and the GameMaker kids (9's) are loving it(GM). Seems a shame to be moving off GM, but hey, gotta move on sometime!

ah cha cha...
