[Yr11 Information Technology] Paid for VITTA Unit 2 exam?

Hi George and all,

Thanks for your comments regarding the Unit 2 exam - VITTA will undertake to
produce a Unit 1 and Unit 2 exam in 2012 based on the feedback that has been
received.

I wanted to put the issue in context though - as VITTA has not produced
separate Unit 1 and 2 exams in the past and there has not been the demand
for it.  Obviously, we want to produce the exams that teachers want to use
and so clearly there are teachers who want separate exams.  Earlier in the
year, after the Unit 1&2 combined exam was published, there were requests to
produce a Unit 2 exam - the best we could do at the time was to produce a
Unit 2 exam from the existing Unit 1&2 exam (so yes - there may have been an
overlap of some questions).  In 2012, the two exams will be produced
separately and there will not be this overlap.  Our focus has always been on
the Unit 3&4 exams to be honest and there has not really been much uptake of
the Unit 1&2 papers.  Another difficulty with the Unit 1&2 papers is that
school content can differ quite a bit more than you would find in either of
the Unit 3&4 studies.

Hi,

I rang them up yesterday and asked the same question and they said they'd
get back to me. Still haven't heard. But if what you say is the case then
all those that paid for the exams would have a case for getting half their
money back I would say! 

This is ridiculous.

Hi George,

I called up VITTA today and asked whether they were bringing out a Unit 2
exam but was told that they are not, but are considering it for next year. 

I looked at the combined Unit 1 & 2 and as Philip indicated there are some
relevant questions from that exam, however, you would need to supplement
other questions as well. I was also going to look at the Nelson Cengage
practice Unit 2 exam and use some of the questions in that.

I got sick of waiting so I edited both exams and took out the unit 1
material and put in my own replacement questions to make up two unit 2
exams. Unfortunately I can't share this as the exam is still more than half
paid for VITTA property.

Hi all,

I would like to clarify whether the Unit 2 IT exam has been surgically
separated from the initial document sent out early May. I have what seems to
be a Unit 2 exam with: Appropriate multiple choice questions (different from
Unit 1, in any case) but the first 5 questions are the same as the Unit 1
exam.

Does anyone know whether VITTA corrected this and sent out a complete Unit 2
exam? It is getting late and if this hasn't been done it would good to get
some movement on it asap.
