[vet-mm] Actionscripting or Javascript?

I'm teaching ActionScript as it is part of Flash, an application that my
students are already familiar with. It is great to be able to
demonstrate how much more easily you can do things with ActionScript,
cutting out heaps of unnecessary frames and reducing the file size of
the SWF greatly.

There is a great ActionScript program in this months edition of "Web
Designer", an excellent british magazine with a wealth of examples of
Adobe's product range. It contains a step-by-step guide to creating a
Flash version of "Breakout", a game that my year 10 students love to
distract themselves with. It's amazing how students suddenly perk up
when they get to create a game themselves.

I find the newsagent to be a great source of lesson material, though do
be careful of copyright.

Java is not used in the exam but JavaScript can be. A vast difference
between the 2. I would touch on a little JavaScript when you do web
pages so the kids see scripting in a different way but Flash tends to be

flavour of the year or 2 or 3.
