[Technical] cases21

NOTHING is allowed to insert data into CASES - they are truly paranoid !
THAT is why there no truly integrated addon software products that use the CASES database and perform the
needed tasks in a useful manner instead of as Sir Humphrey would have it.

Just have to suggest that if he likes CASES so much, he follow CASES suggestion that session attendance is
totally unnecessary and just take attendance morning and aftermoon, also that flat block curriculum structures
will meet all needs and so forget those TT tweaks he wants so much....

There are NO easy integrated slutions while we are forced to justify the wasted millions on CASES development
by using the monster instead of one of the excellent integrated school administratiuon packages available on
the free market.

Hi Anton,

Obviously the Principal's aim is to relieve the burden on the Office staff, since there must be duplication of
effort, entering the absences in once on the curriculum side then again on the admin.

But if your curric system is Oracle, and your admin is SQL Server, you should be able to hire a SQL Consultant
to write a trigger that imports the data from your curric database. Anecdotally, I've heard of schools doing
that in the opposite direction to export CASES data to library databases.

You might want to contact the CASES development team for advice.

Cheers,
Clarky

Hi everyone, the Principal at my school has asked me about changing the schools rolls system to cases21. Our
present system is web based using oracle and allows heaps of functions for teachers, coordinators admin etc.
Can anyone assist me as to whether this would be a good thing or not.
Presently the only drawback with our system is with human data entry errors.
I would really appreciate any feedback. I am absolutely scared at the whole change over process and all the
retraining etc that would occur.

with thanks
