The only extras that come to mind are SGML and TeX/LaTeX for Format of
Input.

Subject: [Year 12 SofDev] SD U3O2 KK05- formatting and structural
characteristics of efficient and effective input and output

Hi all. As the term rattles to a wobbly stop at the station and year 12
passengers reach for their suitcases, I'm working on material for the new
study design. U3O2 Key knowledge 05 has me wondering though: "formatting
and structural characteristics of efficient and effective input and output."

I'm pondering what sorts of things would be relevant - here's what I've got
so far.  Any other ideas?

Structure of input -

*	CSV (unformatted textual data in field order)
*	XML
*	Binary fixed-length records
*	Proprietary formats (e.g. Excel's XLS, Filemaker's FP7, GIF, saved
game files)
*	Open formats (PDF, JPG, MP3, MPEG4, AVI, ZIP)
*	source code

Format of input -

*	RTF (marked-up text)
*	HTML (" ")
*	Plain, unformatted text
*	Proprietary formats (e.g. Word's DOC)

Structure of output -

*	Compressed?
*	Ordered (sorted)
*	Indexed?
*	Same items as in 'structure of input'
*	p-code
*	compiled code

Format of output -

*	Tabular
*	Graphical (e.g. charts)
*	Aural (sound)
*	Encrypted?

Cheers
Mark

Happy holidays everyone!
