Thanks Keith, Rob and Suzanne,

The advantages of the moodle website that I have hosted on my own server are
that I have full administrative control and can play around with whatever I
want. I have downloaded lots of free themes from
http://www.ballisticlearning.biz/moodlethemes/ (it is free to become a
member and then you can download many more themes)

I have installed them on the server, and can change themes easily, but need
to play around to change the 'logo's on the one I want. Another day...
Keith when I get it happening I will give you the link ok?

Suzanne - keep pushing for your ideals - we had a thread not long ago on one
of the lists about techs making educational decisions (if I remember
correctly it was a tech who wouldn't install audacity?) I wish you luck, and
if you do not succeed then you can become a teacher on my moodle site and
you can show them why you want to use it for your students. Keith included a
great story recently about a teacher's initiation to moodle - it might be
useful for you to use that too.

Now - when is the next moodle in a bar??? Before or after exams/reports? Any
suggestions?

Cheers everyone

Thanks for that Rob....
looks like I am still having to prove my case for the use of Moodle over
sharepoint at my school too....
Looks like a very helpful link.
Ros... I totally feel what you are going through
cheers

Hi Ros,

Cheer up, all is not lost.

Visit this site and apply for your own school group :
http://www.groups.edna.edu.au/ They are planning to upgrade to Moodle 1.6
soon

so you'll have the latest and greatest to show any potential supporters.

You won't have absolute control but you will be the administrator and be
able to achieve most of your aims for this year's students.

Furthermore, as the owner of the site you will be able to build up
activities and resources and still have access to them next year.

There is an owner's user group and Ms Kerrie Smith is forever helpful!

Cheers,

Rob

Keith - my site is just on a private server as my school is not a moodle
school :-( :-( :-(

So I have uploaded it to a domain name and server I pay for and was hoping
to get it going for my year 12's for second semester - BUT...

I found out this week that the school I am at this year has bypassed moodle
for all the M$ Sharepoint stuff so until the end of the year I am probably
locked into using that. But still waiting for it to go fully online. And to
make matters worse I found out last week that no one else was using moodle
at Bentleigh so they have deleted it all - I am privately screaming a purple
fit!! And praying that at least they backed up what I had already done
somewhere (which was not much because I had no administrative priveleges at
all and could not even set up a course) When I get back to Bentleigh next
year I will be going full force to get moodle happening again - no matter
what the political cost! Bentleigh is using Day Map, but staff are basically
just using it to mark the roll (except for one colleague who is also a
friend who is using the assignment part of it)

I have been in a no win situation as far as moodle is concerned for 18
months now, and am so keen to get it happening! I thought if I could show
people the sites you sent us it might encourage them to be supportive in
pushing for moodle. But now I will have to wait for 2007 because my current
school is already committed to $harepoint, and I have no influence.

Cheers

Ros - can I have a little look at yours please? You may have some things
I would like to try myself.
Yes, what can be done is mind blowing, isn't it!
