$(UHi Maggie

Perhaps ask the company to provide you with a list of schools they have offered their services to and call them randomly to ascertain what it is they offer?

Cheers
Therese

Hi Maggie and all,

My 2c.

I must confess that I was quite interested when I saw the brochure – and my Prin. handed me one as well (so they have cast the net wide!)
It is a paid session and goes for 2 hours and they mention software that will be ‘given?’ to the students (but it is all free anyway – my impression). I did email them to ask them for more info and what I received back was very vague and generic. My feeling is that anything that you can teach in 2 hours in the area of games design is going to be very ‘surface’ and I imagine them showing lots of ‘wow’ media clips and saying ‘hey you can do this great stuff with this software’ and here it is.

So my personal feeling about this is that it is not worth it – and I will be steering clear (and not promoting it to my students at all). But just to emphasis – JUST MY OPINION! It could be great and if anyone does promote it / send students along – it would be interesting to hear first hand. I am sceptical.

Cheers,
Adrian

'They appear to have had a big impact in ACT and NSW' -- Is that true or is it part of the hype?

Hi Folks,

This group was on the phone to me today trying to push their product.

They seem genuine and appear to have had a big impact in NSW & ACT.

They are in Melbourne early next term - too early for us to get involved at this stage but they seemed interesting in investigating another trip to Melbourne around ICT Week.

$45 is a bit steep, but they claim to offer $3000 plus game development software for for each student. I'll investigate further when they come next term as we don't currently offer any game development options.

Does anyone out there know about this company? They give you the posters and the kids fork out about $45 and get games software kits. They come to the individual school.

Commercial Game Development Roadshow which will be presenting to Melbourne schools in Term 2.

Maggie
