[Year 12 IT Apps] U3O2 - Ok to code entirely in Notepad?

Couldn't agree more Mark.

It is not the specific software that produces the website. It is the person using the software. And the end result is the point of the exercise. As I've said before, my favourite for web site production has for years been Arachnophilia. That works for me, but not for everyone. Each to his own poison!

AFAIAC it's the end result that matters here. I let my kids use any tool they like as long as the final prototype website achieves its purpose.

If Notepad can produce a site that nicely demonstrates/simulates online tools being used by a virtual team to make decisions and share information, then it's fair enough. GUI web editors are just wrappers to automate the creation of HTML, CSS and PHP code that Notepad could produce manually.

    Hi,

This is probably a dumb question, but if a pupil is proficient in html and css, can they create their prototype website in Notepad (or Vym, or Notepad++ etc). I know the task must be completed using appropriate software that can create a website, but does that include something as simple as a text editor or must they use Dreamweaver or another WYSIWYG type of editor?

    Cheers,
