[Year 12 IPM] Unit 1/2 2007+ Programming/Scripting

Hi Michael.  The tradition on this list is to "top post" and put your 
replies above the original message.  People prefer it to having to 
scroll to the bottom of a long thread to see a new post.

Just to clarify this thread a little - it may have gotten frayed.  The 
new Software Development (SOD) course ("Info Systems") does have a list 
of approved programming languages released by the VCAA.

However, the study design for Unit 2 says "a programming or scripting 
language that enables students to manipulate data" and gives some 
examples.  It doesn't seem to mandate any language or suggest an 
approved list will be given for Unit 2.

So, if Gamemaker lets students manipulate data with arithmetic operators 
or functions, and it has classic programming constructs like 
subprograms, loops, Boolean operators, arrays etc then it sounds like it 
would be fine by the VCAA for use in Unit 2 - but probably not in SOD.

But then again, what do I know?
