Dear colleagues

Next week is Computer Science Education Week, and you might like to participate in the Hour of Code. Here are the details.

40,000,000 students

have learned an HOUR of CODE<http://code.org/>

Over 40 million students have tried the Hour of Code<http://hourofcode.com/au> since it launched in 2013. This year, the movement to recruit students of all ages to try computer science is coming to Australia during Computer Science Education Week, December 8-14.

What's an Hour of Code?

It's an introduction to computer science designed to show that anyone can learn the basics. Code.org provides hour-long tutorials featuring Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Angry Birds, and Plants vs. Zombies - for your computer, tablet, smartphone, or with no computer at all! Tutorials will be available in 30+ languages.

How can you help?

1) Ask your local school to participate - share this handout<http://hourofcode.com/resources/hoc-one-pager.pdf> and video<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srH1OEKB2LE&list=UUJyEBMU1xVP2be1-AoGS1BA> with your teacher

2) Ask your employer to host an Hour of Code event

4) Recruit a local group in your community or host an Hour of Code "block party"

Join us<http://hourofcode.com/au> to be part of the largest learning event in history. No experience needed from teachers and students.

Start now by selecting your flag or by going to http://hourofcode.com/au
