Hey Roland, sorry mate, but the 'system' wont let me do it your way in reports etc. As for just having fun...can only do that after jumping lots of hurdles and filling out paperwork.
Nice in theory though....

Part of the secret to VELS is just have fun and teach a rich and broad
curriculum. Much of what you are going to do is buried in these
documents. Assessment should not drive the content you are going to
cover although it might help set some hurdles that you should at least
aspire to jump over.

If you are teaching an IT class, you can find inspiration in many of
the topics that are happening in other subjects or from the student
lives or build upon an interest that you have a passion for. In my
Research Science class I use environmental monitoring and geoscience
as my context for teaching year 9 IT. Works a treat.

Avoid using "VELS speak" with your reporting and assessment, parents
prefer plain English in any case. Certainly avoid trying to describe
somebodies progress in terms of the hurdles you just measured to gauge
a progression point, better to describe what they did in your class
and any personal achievements or contributions.
