Hi Rachelle,

Myself and a few colleagues here at La Trobe have dabbled a little. La
Trobe Uni now has its own island as part of a research project. If
you're interested I may be able to put you in touch with Kay Souter who
is in charge of the project.

I know that a few people, (particularly the Open University in the UK)
are running courses for educators on how to use Teen Second Life with
their students.  

Perhaps Teen Second Life might be worth taking a look at, although it
isn't free and schools have to register.
