Why? Because the netiquette of this list is that we all write some kind of identification. Most of us wonder how many students get on these lists. Your email address is one which leaves no kind of ID. Mine has my surname and the unique identifier of a ham radio callsign. My other address is from my school.  

So, why would you *not* tell us your school name? I have some stuff which I could possibly share with you. If your school is near mine, I would happily offer you an invitation to visit. It would be good to meet you.
