Yes I have a course in Year 10 where I am incorporating some Cert II IT
units in the curriculum. It has been developed as a pathway program for
my VET IT course but certainly gives the students a opportunity to
understand PCs and networking from a hands on perspective prior to the
VCE IT course as some key knowledge is presented particularly,
protocols, topology, hardware and software components of a network. They
even optimise an NOS (NT4 and Server 2003) and standard OS (Ubuntu -
Linux and Windows XP) to a basic level. This course works well at my
school where the students are engaged by a more hands on approach to
learning. All my work is on-line to a private Wiki to students but I
have a brief outline available if required. The course is designed for
students to build a PC, network and optimise the PC to communicate with
others, and provide them with basic network theory and OH&S issues
relating to PC Use.

Resources:

* 7 Pentium 3 PCs with 2 hard drives (dual boot between the
operating systems)

* 7 CD Burners that the students install

* UTP cables that are made in class and tested using a cable
tester

*         A switch

* An old NT server - create user accounts etc

* VITTA senior networking resource disk

* Numerous other personal notes on networking from numerous
sources that I have on-line for the students to look at.

Is this what you are looking for?

Like I said I have created this course as a pathway for further senior
study so you need to work out what you target group of students are and
develop curriculum to build their knowledge and skills for VET IT -
Network Administration Stream (they complete around 5 of those pre-
requisite units prior to commencing their Cert III in IT)

Regards
