Hi Don,

That's correct - only the one open category entry from each school needs to
complete the form and send it in along with a copy of the program by
September 30.

Cheers

Gavin, I assume that it is sufficient to enter students in the open
competition via the web site, and only complete the Open Entry form for the
one entry that is to be the school entry?
cheers Don

Hi all,

The 2005 Programming Excellence Awards, sponsored by Microsoft and run by
VITTA in conjunction with DE&T, are to be held in Term 3. The awards are a
fantastic opportunity for students unfamiliar with programming to develop
their skills in a structured fashion with the support of their teachers.
The awards also provide a competitive challenge for advanced students (or
quick learners) in the form of an Open Challenge category, which has
$26,000 worth of prizes at stake.

This year, the awards have their own website,
http://progawards.openlab.net.au. Registration at the site will be
necessary for teachers to submit their school's entries, and also provides
forums, downloads and information for teachers.

For more information on the awards, or to register now, go to:

http://progawards.openlab.net.au

Cheers,

Gavin Ballard
Assistant Officer
VITTA
