Hey David, this was raised a couple of weeks ago so I’m just copying the relevant stuff … nobody pointed out that this was wrong, so I’m running with it ☺ .

Study design says:

Software tools
The following table indicates the software tools that students are required to both study and use in this unit.
Area of Study 3 Web authoring software, visualising thinking tool/s, tool for planning a project

The term “study and use” means you have to teach it somewhere in the course of the outcome. So, you must teach some visualising thinking tools (I’ll use Inspiration for brainstorming/concept mapping), some project planning tool (I use GanttProject) and some web authoring software (I use Notepad and DreamWeaver). For the actual SAC, the students can choose to use these tools.

For “evaluate cloud computing”, this is the group choosing to use an online tool (such as Wix or Weebly or whatever) or not (local site using DreamWeaver or Notepad or whatever). I’d expect some pros and cons and then a decision from the group (table and/or paragraph of writing).

Optimising for mobile viewing (user interaction) is something the team has to do in appearance and functionality of solutions – again, some pros and cons and then a final decision. Make sure you teach every option, but the group chooses which option they are using for their SAC.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me about U1O3 – Collaboration and Communication and its requirements with regards to mobile devices.

Do students have to produce a website that can be viewed:

  1. on mobile devices or
  2. do they just have to be able to explain how the User interface, design principles etc differ for mobile when compared to viewing on a desktop / other device?

If so, with the time constraints of teaching content and the SAC, are students able to use wix / weebly (if skill levels are not sufficient for notepad / WYSIWYG / DW). What are the restrictions?
