[Yr11 Information Technology] preparation for 2016

Hi all,

I have been working on making the key information in the study design more “palatable” and accessible to the students.

So far I have “digested” the PSM and design tools. I am planning to upload powerpoint show (.ppsx) versions to my schoology classroom so that students can access them and hopefully become a lot more confident in their application of the PSM during assessment tasks.

Mostly I have tried not to extrapolate beyond the study design, but when it gets to design tools that’s impossible! I have used the NSW software development syllabus and Mark’s VCEIT website as references for some concepts, just to clarify my understanding (e.g. what distinction should be drawn between an ERD and a data structure diagram???). Additionally, I have tried to map design tools to the types of planning that are specified in the design stage of the PSM - I’m not sure how successful that is.

Every time a new study design is released I do get a little frustrated by the mandate of design tools that are not well-defined, such as “structure chart”, “layout diagram” etc. Although my students all have textbooks, they often google a lot too and end up getting very confused about what exactly is expected of them.

Given that there are so many possible interpretations for some of this terminology I was hoping that some of you might have a look and be kind enough to pass on your feedback. Perhaps together we can generate some kind of internal consistency???

Of course, anyone is free to re-use all/part of these presentations.

I have also tried to model awareness of copyright legislation through a copyright acknowledgement & creative commons license on the final slide - please let me know if I did that wrong, its my first time!!!
