This outcome is a little different to others in that students demonstrate their knowledge and skills over an extended period of time. This includes students undertaking a series of discrete programming tasks and recording their learning journey - what was being learned? How well was the learning applied? Etc The conditions under which these aspects are done may vary a little, from supervised to unsupervised conditions. As the journal aspect is personal in nature, it can be completed under more relaxed conditions - at home, in the classroom. There could also be differing conditions under which the programming tasks are done, depending on their nature - with or without teacher assistance. The trick is to not overburden the students with tasks, but to also give them the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in designing and developing software solutions. Remember that the tasks can be quite small. 

As with any unit, the timing is a school decision. It is also important to consider the requirements for area of study 3, as students need to ascertain a real client, consult with the client and implement an evaluation strategy. Ample time needs to be devoted to ensuring that these conditions exist for this area of study. Feedback from the previous study design indicates that the benefits of a real client are great - it supports the idea that using real data for a real purpose results in real learning!

Hi,

What is the timeline for unit 2 outcome 2 with  two parts to it?
Can they get help with teacher on these programming tasks?

It looks like students have a number of weeks to work on tasks so what conditions do they do this under?
