Not sure of its name but there's a computing group in Ferntree Gully road(i think) just up from forrest road from memory...they might be able to either take some students or provide a speaker. They do commercial stuff.

Alternatively, for a city trip, any of the big banks, IBM, or if you can swing it, try a couple of big stockbrokers in collins street...they have lots of computers on the go and its got an investment industry twist too! (worth the phone call to find out..)

Also, the distribution centres for some of the major brands....most have a warehouse in regional centres so Melbourne may have one for some companies..eg Dell, Acer, IBM, Mac etc.

Or, good ol unis are worth a look (Monash is handy for you, and they also have the Faculty of Ed which might assist you) at the Faculties of engineering, computing, infotech etc.

Hope these ideas help!

Kent.

great project, thanks roland

I was thinking of some preliminary activities to introduce greek maths /
science to start with including some nocturnal activities

eg. holding a ruler at arms length to measure the diameter of the moon,
then
using similar triangles to estimate the ratio b/w the moons diameter and
distance of the moon from the earth (or using a coin if you have a
partner
to help)

which also happens to be the same as the ratio b/w the suns diameter and
the
distance of the sun from the earth (since the sun is exactly covered by
the
moon during an eclipse)
