Last year I used gamemaker, It allowed students to look at logical
sequencing to start with drag and drop, then we converted the drag and
drop icons to script. The yoyo games website has heaps of tutes and I've
written some myself if you would like them.

Accepted programming languages are listed on the VCAA site but, to my
knowledge, are only for Software Development. I think the purpose of
Unit 2 was to acquaint students with programming structures and
concepts. The concepts of sequencing, branching and iteration are
clearly shown in Scratch.

Hey there Jenna,
Before you launch into scratch, you better check if its one of the
'accepted' programs for VCE studies. From memory, there was quite a bit
of discussion as to the suitability of that program for the year 11
studies. Many of us are using VBASIC or similar because of that
concern...

I'm using VB6 - 'cos we've got it and I know it.
I made a graduated series of tasks from very basic to quite
sophisticated so kids could show their level of accomplishment.
