Hi everyone (and apologies for the cross posts),

During ICT week, VITTA will be holding two events which we would like as
many students and teachers of ICT to be involved in as possible. ICT Week
culminates with the ICT Careers Expo on Saturday 2nd August at Melbourne
High School, however, we will be holding a companion event targeted at girls
who are interested in ICT on the 30th July.

This will be the first year that we will run this event, but we hope to
establish it as an annual event as well as form an online community to
continue the dialogue with interested students. Events such as 'Go Girl'
are well establish and successful and we feel that we also can assist by
providing another avenue by which students can come into contact with ICT
professional women and have their questions answered. Swinburne Uni. are
kindly hosting the event and we are in the process of sourcing speakers for
the sessions on the day.

Details are below - and feel free to use this description for your
newsletter or in an email notice to your students.

VITTA Girls in ICT event - 30th July, Swinburne Uni. 8.30am - 3.00pm

Did you know that the ICT industry is one of the fastest growing industries
in Australia? Not only is this the case, but it is an industry which offers
a wide range of specialisation, great wages and working conditions, and
global recognition. Despite these obvious positives, it is still an
industry that fails to attract a large number of professional women. Why is
this the case?

Come along to this all day event being held at Swinburne University
(Hawthorn Campus) on the 30th July to hear from professional women working
in the ICT industry today and hear about the state of the industry from
those on the cutting edge. Hear about some of the pathways for women to
enter the industry and the breadth of career choices that are available. In
addition, bring along the questions that you want to know about the industry
and how it works. Come along and be inspired!

Please help us promote this event and bring along your classes! As a
companion event to the Careers Expo on the 2nd August, it would be great if
your interested students attended both events - and by doing so, they would
gain access to all of the information they could want about the industry.
As the Girls in ICT event is on a week-day, we want you to organise your
students and bring them along. The event is totally free - and we hope will
be of great interest to all!

If you would like more information on the event, or if you plan to bring
your class, could you please email me with the details so that I can best
accommodate for the attendance.

All the best,

Adrian Janson
