Hi Keith and the rest of the list,

Please excuse the off-topic question.

We are using a commercial system called Masterfile at our school which has generally been a pain in the proverbial. I've tried convincing the IT manager to change to Moodle but his main gripe appears to be about security. Have you had an issues with security on Moodle? What have other schools experiences been with Moodle? Is there a better commercial system that is actually affordable (ie. not Blackboard). Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: [vet-mm] Moodle Database Module in Multi-Media

Hi Y'All.
We have just made an exciting discovery.
In Moodle 1.7 there is a database module with a big range of filetypes
that may be loaded into its cells.
We made one to accept image files, then had the Year 8 multimedia
students who are currently modifying their own photos using Irfanview,
upload web-sized images (300px wide) into the class database. The
students were limited to 10 entries, and could also delete their own
entries, so that it was a "Best Of" selection of their work.
Then each student had to make a constructively critical comment about
two of the photos of each other student.
It has worked well.
Thought others might like to try it out.
Keith
