Hi Roger,
The correct answer is to increase the diameter of the wire.
This will reduce the resistance of the wire.
If you use V= I x R then the voltage drop actross this length of wire will decrease because of its lower resistance.

Thanks Brendan Neville and Rob for your comments on this issue.
This question was in the multiple choice section. Exam assessors don't get to check these. They're marked by computer.
Another question that presents a problem for me is Q 12. Increasing the csa of a conductor would indeed reduce the resistance. But the voltage drop would decrease in the wiring. So wouldn't the volt meter would have to read higher?
Any thoughts

Hi Roger,
The suggested answer for question 19 of last year's exam is definitely wrong! The correct answer is B (as you suggested).
We are using NAND gates, some of which are configured as INVERTER gates.
